Scaffolds of Support
Scaffolds of Support are interventions the Western School District use to assist students be successful both academically and socially-emotionally. Tier I supports are proactive best practices that are used with all students and these strategies are typically effective with 80-85% of our students. Tier II supports are supplemental intervention practices that are typically effective with the next 10-15% of our students. Tier III supports are intensive intervention practices that are typically effective with the next 1-5% of our students needing the most assistance.
McKinney-Vento Act
If your family lives in any of the following situations your school-age children may qualify for certain rights and protections under the Federal mckinney-vento act.
- In a shelter
- In a motel or campground due to the lack of an alternative adequate accommodation
- In a car, park, abandoned building, or bus or train station
- Doubled up with other people due to loss of housing or economic hardship
